River Valley vaults past CO-U

CHARTER OAK - River Valley sophomore quarterback Brennan Riedemann completed 15-31 passes for 311 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Wolverines to a 70-28 win over Charter Oak-Ute in 8-player football action here Friday night.

Blane Cullen caught 10 of those passes for 207 yards and two TDs, including one catch for a 60-yard score. Also on the reciving end of Riedemann TD pases were Zak Gander for 50 yards, Josh Pansegrau for six yards, and Skylar Shever for 40 yards.

In addition, Shever pocketed three rushing TDs on 14 carries for 110 total rushing yards, the longest TD a 12-yard job.

Riedemann also had two pass interceptions on defense, including one that he returned 50 yards for a TD. Cullen also had a fumble recovery to his credit.

Jacob Preuss paced the winners on defense with 12 tackles, while Cullen tallied 11, Shever eight, Parker Goettsch seven, Adam Schirmer six, and Riedemann five.

River Valley led 40-28 after an exciting first half, and then pulled away in the second half with 30 unanswered points.

For CO-U, QB Josh Gotto was 9-27 passing for 142 yards and three TDs, including scoring passes to Andrew Christiansen, Joey Krier, and Jordan Thies. Thies also rushed 13 times for 44 yards and a 1-yard TD to account for the CO-U scoring.

River Valley (1-1) hosts Ar-We-Va Westside in 8-player District action Friday night in Correctionville.
