Balster leads Sheldon past South O'Brien boys

SHELDON - Quarterback Chris Balster accounted for four touchdowns to lead Sheldon to a hard-fought 33-17 football win over South O'Brien here Friday night.

Balster rushed 16 times for 97 yards and two TDs, completed 5-10 passes for 60 yards and one TD, and returned a punt 54 yards for a fourth TD to spark the Orabs throughout.

Cody Hatting caught Balster's TD pass from 32 yards out, and also rushed four yards for a TD to account for Sheldon's point totals. Zach Kleinwolterink kicked three of five PATs for the winners.

Zach Nieman led the Wolverines on offense, rushing 25 times for 164 yards and two TDs. South O'Brien quarterback Adam Paulsen completed 6-16 passes for 17 yards and one interception against the pesky Orab defense.

Michael Callahan kicked a 27-yard field goal for the Wolverines to round out their scoring.

SOS rushed 50 times for 292 yards, and Sheldon rushed 36 times for 190 yards.

Tanner Matthews led SOS on defense with nine tackles, followed by Austin Rohrs eight, Matt DeVos six, and John Gray six. Rohrs also had two fumble recoveries for the Wolverines.

Hatting had 16 tackles to lead Sheldon, followed by Travis Nelson 13, and Tom Brown 10.

The 0-2 Wolverines host Ridge View (0-1) Friday night.
