Born on Nov. 8, 1925 in Cleghorn, she was the daughter of Corwin and Ethel (Walters) Peck. She graduated from high school in Cleghorn.Darlene married George Kastelle on June 8, 1947 in Cherokee. George and Darlene moved to the Waseca area in 1956 where they raised their family. Darlene was active in the community as, among other things, a member of the Federated Clubs, Monday Study Club, delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering at Farm America and serving on the Arts Council. She also sang with the Sweet Adelines and was a soloist at church. Darlene and George were known for serving cake and ice cream to the residents of Maple Terrace on Valentine's Day for over 30 years. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, George, of Waseca, Minn.; one son, Rev. Roger Kastelle and his wife Marigen, of Luck, Wis.; two grandchildren, Kirsten Turner and her husband Jamie, of Lakeland, Minn. and Josh Kastelle of Homer, Ark.; and one great-grandson, Oliver Turner.
