River Valley splits two VB matches

SIOUX CITY - The River Valley volleyball team split two recent matches in Sioux City, beating Sioux City Christian 2-0, and losing 2-0 to Remsen-Union.

Lexie Chester led the Wolverines in hitting against Sioux City Christian, totaling 16-19 with five kills, followed by Kari Ludvigson 15-17 and seven kills, Mackenzie Fitch 6-8 and three kills, Olivia Goettsch 5-6 and two kills, and Brittany Hunwardsen 5-6 and three kills.

Jacie Jepsen led RV in assists with 18. Fitch paced the winners in digs with seven, and Ludvigson had four, and also led her team in blocks with five.

Chester paced RV in serving with an 11-14 effort and two aces, followed by Fitch 8-10 and three aces, Hunwardsen 8-9 and one ace, Ludvigson 6-7, and Brittny Shropshire 6-8 and one ace.

In the loss to Remsen-Union, Ludvigson had a stellar hitting effort with 19-19 and 14 kills, followed by Chester 8-10 and two kills, Fitch 6-11 and two kills, Hunwardsen 7-9 and one kill, and Jepsen 4-7 and one kill.

Jepsen again led in set assists with a dozen, and Fitch, Ludvigson, and Haley Madacino each tallied three digs. Ludvigson had three blocks.

In serving, Jepsen led with a 7-10 match and one ace, while Chester was 8-8, Ludvigson 6-6, Hunwardsen 4-5 and an ace, and Fitch 4-6 and one ace.
