College planning offered for WHS students

Thursday, September 8, 2011

High school juniors and their parents can learn about planning for college during the free presentation offered by Cherokee Washington High School and the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN).

This event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 in the WHS Library. During the presentation, students and parents will receive answers to questions on topics like preparing for college, what to consider when choosing a college, how to compare colleges, what to look for and ask about during college visits, and what the financial aid process entails.

"This presentation is very helpful to juniors and parents who are unsure exactly what steps they need to take to get ready for college," says Juan Garcia, manager of ICAN.

"As Students get to closer to graduation, they and their families often find the entire process confusing. This information clears up that confusion so families know what to do."

For more information about the presentation, students and parents should contact WHS guidance counselors Deb Hankens or Jolleen Hunecke by calling 225-6755 or emailing dhankens@ccsd.k12.ia.us or jhunecke@ccsd.k12.ia.us.
