BRUNSVILLE - Several Cherokee County Cross Country teams competed in the Gary Meyer Invitational Cross Country Meet here on Tuesday. The Unity Christian teams took first place in both the boys and girls team competition, with Storm Lake finishing second in the boys' team race and MOC-Floyd Valley taking second in the girls' competition.
Among area teams, Cherokee was 11th, Alta-Aurelia 12th, and Ridge View 14th in the varsity girls' standings, and A-A was 7th in the boys' standings, while Ridge View finished 9th.
Kate Mathes was the Ridge View girls' top finisher, running a time of 20:22.17 to finish 59th. Her time represented an improvement of 1 minute 50 seconds over the time she posted in last year's meet.
Jason Kenny topped the Ridge View boys with his 18th place finish in 18:19.37 while Christian Egger ran an18:43.88 to place 26th.
