MMC handles Belmond-Klemme

BELMOND - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Eagles rushed for three touchdowns and passed for three TDs to share the wealth and pocket an entertaining 46-30 District football win over Belmond-Klemme here Friday night.

MMC quarterback Tanner Utesch figured in on four TDs, completing 13-20 passes for 304 yards and two TDs, rushing for a third, and then being on the receiving end of a tricky 27-yard TD pass from receiver Zach Specht. Utesch hooked up with Eli Hohbach and Specht for his two passing TDs. Specht caught five passes for 128 yards in the game.

Dalton Brady and Andrew Hoefling accounted for the two other rushing TDs for the Eagles.

All told, MMC rushed 35 times for 83 yards and three TDs, and passed 14-21 for 331 yards and three TDs.

Karter Uhlenhopp led B-K's rushing with 20 carries for 169 yards and two TDs, Elijah Kinseth rushed 10 times for 34 yards and one TD, and QB Kinseth was 2-6 passing for 41 yards, one TD, and two interceptions.

Isaiah Petersen and Dylan Rolfes had the picks for MMC, while Brady recovered two fumbles and Jared Gross one.

Petersen, Levi Letsche, and Nathan Zubrod led the MMC defenders with nine tackles each, while Rolfes had seven, and Justin Theisen, Hohbach, and Gross managed five apiece.

The 3-1 Eagles host previous #1 West Hancock Britt (3-1) Friday night in Marcus. West Hancock lost to undefeated and new #1 Le Mars Gehlen (4-0) last Friday at home.
