South O'Brien nicks Indians, 13-10

POCAHONTAS - South O'Brien's Zach Nieman rushed for two touchdowns, including a 20-yard scamper to pay dirt. to lead the Wolverines to a tense 13-10 District victory over Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer here Friday night.

Perhaps the story this night was the outstanding defensive effort of South O'Brien led by an amazing 21 tackles by Tanner Matthews, and a dozen stops by John Gray. Adam Paulsen was in on seven tackles, and Tim Jenness six.

Quarterback Paulsen completed 7-8 passes for 68 yards and one interception, with Sam Weber catching two passes for 29 yards, and Cole Ebel two catches for 24 yards.

Zane Roberts and Weber had fumble recoveries for coach mark Fuhrman's Wolverines.

Luke Sommerlot scored the lone TD for the Indians on a one-yard plunge, and rushed 24 times for 95 yards in the game. Cody Rahn rushed 28 times for 124 yards for the hosts. Sommerlot was 0-3 passing and threw two picks.

South O'Brien (2-2) hosts #8 West Lyon (3-1) Friday night.
