Iowa Substance Abuse Recovery walk and celebration

The public is cordially invited to participate in the Second Northwest Iowa Substance Abuse Recovery Walk and Celebration, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Spencer.

Participants will register at the north end of the Northgate Mall in Spencer outside Compass Pointe Offices, 1900 Grand Ave North Ste A.

Registration - North end of Northgate Mall at the Compass Pointe Parking Lot from 11 a.m. to noon.

Recovery walk - down Grand Avenue in Spencer will be from noon to 1 p.m.

Celebration - at Leach Park will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. National Ally to Recovery Efforts Keynote Speaker -- Dr. Nicholas Taylor, live music by Grindstone, Food, Children's activities by Positively Spencer Youth, Food

There is no charge to attend.

The walk - is to raise community awareness about substance abuse recovery and provide resources surrounding addiction.

The celebration - will honor individuals, their families and organizations that support prevention, treatment and recovery support services.
