Thursday, September 15, 2011

MANSON - The Alta-Aurelia girls traveled here on Tuesday for a pair of volleyball matches and the Warriors wound up on the wrong end of each match, losing to both Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer and Manson Northwest Webster two games to none.

Against Poky, whom A-A had defeated 2-1 over the weekend, the Warriors served at just a 71% efficiency rate. Jill Buckendahl had four ace serves and Tayler Rohwer had three; Alexis Hernandez had four kills to lead the team in that department; and Hernandez and Gracie Winterhof each had four digs; Kelsi Snyder had seven assists while Jenna Snyder had three.

Against the host team, the Warriors improved their serving efficiency to 86.8%. Jill Buckendahl and Taler Stanton were each successful on all of their serves, while Tayler Rohwer was 9-10 with three aces and Gracie Winterhof was 8-9 with five ace serves.

A-A coach Jeannie Henningsen said, "I thought we passed the ball well tonight and served aggressively. We need to set up our offense more consistently to stay in games."

The Warriors, 1-9, host Laurens-Marathon in Alta tonight in a Northwest Conference match.
