ROCKWELL CITY - The fast-improving Ridge View volleyball team ran the table at last week's South Central Calhoun Volleyball Tournament, defeating all six foes, including a rematch with East Sac County to avenge and earlier season loss.
The Raptors of coach Scott Mitchell beat Perry 22-20, 22-10; Fort Dodge St. Edmond 21-16, 21-19; Panorama 21-7, 21-10; East Sac County 21-8, 21-17; host SSC 19-21, 21-10, 15-2; and Ruthven-Ayrshire 21-7, 21-12 to claim the tournament title with and unblemished 6-0 record.
The team registered 242-284 hitting with 140 kills on the day, and was 234-260 serving for a warm 90 percent, along with 43 aces.
Ridge View kill leaders were Kaitlyn Madsen 35, Jayde Vondrak 28, Gretchen Kistenmacher 25, Kaitlin Wulf 24, and Anna Davis 15.
Nicole Snyder was team assist leader with 113, and Madsen led in blocks with 11. Ace serve leaders were Snyder 11, and Davis seven. Dana Hustedt paced the Raptors in digs with 35, followed by Wulf 33, and Kistenmacher 27.
"We played very well throughout the day," said coach Mitchell. "We served more consistently and more aggressively. Our hitters did a good job of putting balls away, but the key was our passing. When we pass well, our offense is pretty good."
The Raptors boast a 12-3 match record and stand 1-1 so far in the Western Valley Conference.
