HOLSTEIN - Lacking sufficient runners to score team points due to injuries and students taking ACT Tests, the Cherokee Washington High cross country teams ran well at Saturday's Tim Thomas Classic hosted by Ridge View at the Holstein Golf Course.
Cherokee featured four girls in that competition, with Hanna Bennigsdorf leading the way with a 26th placing in a time of 18:27, followed by Danni Roethler 47th in 19:27, Chyenne Mortenson 56th in 19:57, and Breanna DeVos 57th in 20:01.
Two Braves ran in the boys competition, with Jaden Lux 37th in 18:47, and Andy Pitts 81st in 20:53.
In the middle school competition for Cherokee, Max DeVos was 12th in 12:33.

"We had some great performances at this meet," said Cherokee coach Jolene Hultgren. "Jaden, Hanna, and Danni all received medals for their performances, and Andy and Breanna ran all-time personal bests.
"As the season progresses, the kids are gaining more confidence and are finally starting to get into shape to run 4K and 6K races. We are looking forward to continued improvement."
