Chargers stampede River Valley

CORRECTIONVILLE - Justin DaSilva rushed for four touchdowns and quarterback Alex Runneberg passed for four TDs and rushed for a fifth TD to lead Laurens-Marathon to a resounding 66-8 win over River Valley in 8-player football action here Friday night.

The scoring onslaught led to 321 yards rushing on 35 carries for the Chargers, with DaSilva leading the way with 19 carries for 185 yards. Runneberg completed 10-14 passes for 155 yards and four TDs, with Matt Cleveland on the receiving end of two of those, and DaSilva and Collin Lind catching the other two scoring passes.

River Valley's lone TD came on a two-yard run by quarterback Brennan Riedemann, as the stout Charger defense limited the Wolverines to 104 rushing yards on 22 carries, with Brennan Riedemann leading the way with 11 hauls for 66 yards.

Riedemann was 14-25 passing for 124 yards and one interception, and older brother Brody Riedemann was 5-9 passing for 60 yards and one pick. Blane Cullen had seven catches for River Valley for 56 yards, and Parker Goettsch pocketed five passes for 31 yards.

Jacob Preuss paced the Wolverines on defense with 13 tackles, followed by Brennan Riedemann eight, Skylar Shever and Tanner Cobb seven apiece, and Cullen and Brody Riedemann four each.

Lind led L-M defenders with 10 tackles, and DaSilva registered seven. The Chargers (3-2) benefited throughout by recovering four River Valley fumbles and picking off two passes.

River Valley (2-3) hosts undefeated Kingsley-Pierson (4-0) Friday night.
