Fall Rendezvous nears

Thursday, September 22, 2011

At any Cherokee Ridgerunners' Rendezvous, a good buckskinner isn't happy until he has his camp site just right. Merle Loftis, of LeMars, is pictured at his campsite during last year's Fall Rendezous. This year's Fall Rendezvous will be held on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. The public is welcome during daylight hours. File photo by Ron Flewelling
The Cherokee Ridge Runner's Fall Rendezvous will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and Oct. 9 at the Little Sioux Wildlife Area southwest of Cherokee and the public is welcome during daylight hours.

Camping fees are $15 for primitive, $20 for modern, and range fee is $10. There will be no meal served during the Rendezvous, however there will be a potluck dinner on Saturday at 6 p.m. and campers are encouraged to bring their own items. There is limited water and firewood.

Scouts who are planning to attend are asked to be in uniform (cap, sash or troop badge) to receive camping discount.

The Fall Rendezvous is held at Little Sioux Wildlife Area located southwest of Cherokee. It's five miles South on U.S. Highway 59, turn west onto county road C-44, turn south onto the River Road and then turn East on 590th St. (gravel road) and turn south to the entrance to the Little Sioux Wildlife Area.
