Prairie Valley too much for Raptors

HOLSTEIN - Nick Carlson rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Prairie Valley of Gowrie to a 34-20 Class 1A District football win over Ridge View here Friday night.

Carlson rushed 29 times for 155 yards and two TDs, and completed 2-4 passes for 22 yards and a 7-yard TD to Jordan Samuelson. One of Carlson's TDs was a 45-yard run.

The potent ground game for the Warriors churned out 432 yards on 65 carries as the Warriors controlled the ball much of the way. Running backs Mason Gordon rushed 17 times for 121 yards and a TD, and Matt Streit 19 times for 156 yards and a TD.

For Ridge View, Ryan Garthoff returned a kick-off 80 yards for a thrilling TD. Raptor QB Seth Johnson completed 17-37 passes for 138 yards and one TD and two interceptions. Johnson's TD pass was to Dru Kenny. Johnson also rushed seven times for 76 yards and one TD for the host team.

Ridge View managed just 74 yards rushing on 16 carries, with Johnson leading the way with seven hauls for 76 yards.

Matt Wandrey paced the busy Ridge View defense with 15 tackles, followed by Kyle Wessling 13, Jamie Hueneke 12, Michael Davidson 12, and Lucas Hansen 10. Austin Graff had a pass interception, and Davidson and Wandrey each recovered a fumble.

Ridge View (0-4) hosts rated Lawton-Bronson (4-0) in Holstein Friday night.
