The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn volleyball team beat Alta-Aurelia 21-14, 23-25, 15-13 for its lone win at Saturday's Cherokee Volleyball Invitational.
The Eagles lost 8-21, 10-21 to host Cherokee; lost 10-21, 22-20, 7-15 to eventual champion Sioux City East, and lost 25-18, 22-25, 6-15 to River valley.
Against Cherokee, Jalyn Doeden led MMC in hitting with an 8-12 effort and two kills, while Erica Dreckman was 5-7, and Kayla Foresman 4-5 with three kills. Foresman led in digs with four. Dreckman paced the Eagles in serving with a 6-7 match and two aces, and Foresman and Alison Meehan were each 3-3.
Against Sioux City East, Doeden led in hitting with 13-18 and four kills, followed by Dreckman 9-18, and Meehan 6-7 and two kills. Dreckman paced her team in serving with 11-12 and four aces, while Foresman was 10-11 and three aces, and Meehan 4-4.
In the win over Alta-Aurelia, Dreckman led the Eagle hitters with 16-22 and eight kills, followed by Doeden 12-16 and six kills, Foresman 11-13 and seven kills, and Alex Dreckman 4-4. Doeden led in digs with six, and Bethany Specht and Hailey Moser had four apiece. Erica Dreckman and Kayla Theisen led MMC in serving with 13-14 each, and Dreckman tallied seven aces. Meehan was 10-10 serving with one ace, and Foresman 9-10 with two aces.
In the loss to River Valley, Doeden led in hitting with 15-19 and six kills, followed by Dreckman 15-17 and seven kills, and Meehan 5-7 and two kills. Theisen, Doeden, and Dreckman led in digs with four each. Doeden also led MMC in serving with a perfect 16-16 match and six aces, while Theisen was 10-10, Foresman 7-8 and one ace, and Meehan 7-9 and one ace.
