Morningside women win XC meet

LINCOLN, Neb. - Morningside College's women's cross country team captured the team championship in the 17 team college division at Saturday's Woody Greeno Invitational held here.

Among the Mustangs' victims were nationally ranked Nebraska Wesleyan University and Concordia University, as well as NCAA Division II teams NW Missouri State University, Fort Hays State University, the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Emporia State University.

Morningside finished with 75 points, for a 25 point cushion over runner-up Northwest Missouri State.

Senior Jessica Weborg was the Mustangs' top individual finisher, taking 5th place with her time of 22:29.78; senior Lydia Ford placed 11th, with a time of 23:12.38; junior Breanna Mathes, a Galva-Holstein graduate, placed 13th with a time of 23:18.08; sophomore Courtney Ruff was 18th, in a time of 25:35.33, and senior Jenna Krai was 28th, with a time of 23:56.03.

The Mustang men's team placed 7th in a 21-team field, led by sophomore Garret Ehlers, a former Ida Grove prep, who finished 18th with a time of 26:36.22.
