Joan Fox, 81, of Cherokee, passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2011, at Careage Hills in Cherokee.

Funeral services are being held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Ethan D. Sayler will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There is a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church today. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Joan was born on May 20, 1930 at Cherokee, to Howard and Lucy (Steward) Fee. She graduated school in 1949 from Cherokee Wilson High School. She was married to Robert "Bob" Fox on June 28, 1950 at Cherokee, who passed away on June 23, 1999. She later married Harold Stevenson on Oct. 25, 2007 at Cherokee, who passed away on Aug. 2, 2010. She worked at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for a couple of years and then did some babysitting out of her home. Joan was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee where she sang in the church choir for many years, a Sunday school teacher, volunteered with bible school, was a Deacon, served on music and worship committee and was a part of Tone Circle. She enjoyed dancing, knitting, traveling, spending time at the Lakes and time spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brother Thomas Fee, sister Helen Vorbrich and twin sisters in infancy.

She is survived by one son and one daughter: Michael Fox and his wife Deb of Cherokee; Julie Case and her husband Rich of Cherokee; four grandchildren: Bree Knipper and her husband Marc of Cherokee; Blake Fox and his wife Tina of Cherokee; Terra Kinney and her husband Don of Winterset; Mitchell Case of Fort Dodge; five great grandchildren: Kylee and Avrey Knipper, Olivia and Kendyl Fox and Jack Kinney; brother-in-law Ronald Fox of Quimby; three nephews.
