City Council candidates announce Town Hall meetings

Cherokee City Council candidates Mark Miller, Jason Johnson, and Barry Lewis will be holding a series of Town Hall meetings at the Cherokee Community Center, 530 W. Bluff St., starting on Saturday, October 8.

There will be a series of five Town Hall meetings on successive Saturdays at 2-4 p.m. The dates of the Town Hall meetings are October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29, and November 5.

The Town Hall meetings will be an opportunity to meet candidates for Cherokee City Council and to discuss issues relating to the City of Cherokee, as well as hear about each candidate's platform and vision for the City in 2012 and beyond.

The five Town Hall meetings are free and open to the public.

There are eight candidates vying for three Cherokee City Council seats this November election.

Miller is challenging incumbent Jim Peck in Ward 1, Johnson is challenging incumbent Wayne Pingel and challenger Matt Royster in Ward 3, and Lewis is challenging candidates Chad Brown and Mike Morrow for the At-Large post being vacated by incumbent Linda Burkhart who is not seeking re-election.
