SCHALLER - The Ridge View Raptors defeated Kingsley-Pierson, 3-0, in a Western Valley Conference volleyball match here on Thursday.
The 3-0 score belies the difficulty the Raptors, now 4-1 in conference play and 22-9 overall, experienced in overcoming the Panthers, as Ridge View took game one by 30-28 score, then won games two and three by scores of 25-20 and 25-19.
Veteran Ridge View coach Scott Mitchell said his team was "very flat. We kind of stood around waiting for someone else to do something."
Mitchell added that the Raptors did serve well, and that factor "probably allowed us to win."
Mitchell hopes that Ridge View will pick up their level of play as the season continues into the stretch.
Anna Davis had four ace serves for Ridge View and Kaitlynn Madsen had three; Madsen also had three blocks and Davis and Jayde Vondrak had two apiece; Dana Hustedt had 10 digs and Gretchen Kistenmacher and Ashlynn Blenner had eight apiece; Madsen led the team in kills with 11 and Kistenmacher and Davis each had seven; and Nicole Snyder had 22 assists.
The Ridge View JV won, 4-0, boosting their season mark to 12-1.
