CORRECTIONVILLE - The Alta-Aurelia volleyball team played in the River Valley volleyball tourney here on Saturday and finished third.
The Warriors won their first two matches - against Westwood and Charter Oak-Ute - both by a score of 2-0.
The Warriors then lost matches to Newell-Fonda, Lawton-Bronson and host River Valley, all by the score of 0-2.
In the win over CO-U, Taler Stanton was 9-10 serving, with four ace serves and Kelsi Snyder was 6-7 with three ace serves. Snyder was 10-10 with four aces in the win over Westwood and Stanton was 8-9 with three ace serves. The Warriors were 34-39 serving in that match with 11 ace serves.
A-A's serving against host River Valley was not as efficient, as they connected on only 26-34 with three ace serves, but they were 18-21 in the loss to Lawton-Bronson and a sizzling 36-39 with eight ace serves against NW Conference rival Newell-Fonda.
Sophomore Tayler Rohwer had the hot hand in that one, with an 11-11 performance that included two aces.
Alta-Aurelia coach Jeannie Henningsen said, "This was a good tournament for us. We played well right from the start and won our first two matches. We passed well and came through with our offense .which allowed us to compete in every game today."
The Warriors' season record now stands at 6-21 heading into a Northwest Conference match-up with Storm Lake St. Mary's in Alta tonight.
