River Valley girls 2nd in tourney

CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley volleyball team chalked up an impressive 4-1 record to place second over all at Saturday's River Valley Invitational here, won by Lawton-Bronson, which posted a perfect 5-0 match record to win the tourney.

The Wolverines dgeated Westwood 2-0, Charter Oak-Ute 2-0, Newell-Fonda 2-0, and Alta-Aurelia 2-0, and lost 2-0 to champion Lawton-Bronson. No game scores were made available.

For RV in the win over Westwood, Brittany Hunwardsen led in hitting with a 12-16 effort and five kills, followed by Jari Ludvigson 5-6 and three kills, and Olivia Goettsch 4-4 and two kills. Brittny Shropshire led her team in set assists with 13, and Lexi Chester and Ludvigson registered six digs apiece, and jacie Jepsen had four.

RV servers were paced by Mackenzie Fitch 12-15 and seven aces, while Chester was 10-10 and one ace, Ludvigson 8-8 and three aces, and Jepsen 3-4.

In the win over CO-U, Hunwardsen again led in hitting with a 9-10 match and five kills, followed by Ludvigson 9-9 and five kills, Chester 5-6 and two kills, and Fitch 4-6 and three kills. Shropshire tallied 10 set assists, and Ludvigson was in on three blocks.

Fitch led RV serving with 9-10 and four aces, while Hunwardsen was 9-10 with three aces, and Shropshire 7-8 with three aces.

Against N-F, Ludvigson led the hitting with 11-11 and six kills, followed by Chester 8-10 and six kills, and Fitch 4-5 and three kills. Shropshire had 12 set assists, and Ludvigson led in digs with three.

The RV serving had Hunwardsen 10-11 and two aces, Ludfigson 5-5, Chester 5-6 and two aces, and Fitch 4-5.

In the win over A-A, Ludvigson was 12-13 and five kills in hitting, followed by Fitch 10-10 and five kills, and Hunwardsen 7-9 and two kills. Sjropshire had 15 set assists and Ludvigson totaled six digs.

Shropshire led the winners serving with a 9-10 match and three aces, while Hunwardsen was 8-12 and three aces, Chester 7-7, and Ludvigson 5-5 and one ace.

In the loss to L-B, Ludvigson was 11-12 hitting with two kills, followed by Fitch 8-10 and four kills. Shropshire had four set assists and Ludvigson tallied seven digs.

Ludvigson led RV servers with a 7-7 match, while Fitch was 6-6 and two aces, Jepsen 5-5 and two aces, Chester 5-5, and Hunwardsen 5-6.

The River Valley girls boast a 21-10 match record.
