LAKE CITY - Area high schools Ridge View and Alta-Aurelia both competed Tuesday at the South Cenral Calhoun Titan Invitational Cross Country Meet.
A total of 82 varsity girls on 10 teams competed in the meet, and Ridge View finished 9th, with 179 points, while Alta-Aurelia was 10th, with 196 points.
Sioux Central took the Girls' Varsity team title with a score of 71 points, followed closely by runner-up Prairie Valley, which totaled 74 points.
Ridge View's top individual performer was Rachel Hunt, whose time of 19:35.91 was good for 30th place. Other Ridge View runners were Kate Mathes, Melissa Brandt, Susie Collier, Meg Kofmehl and Courtney Carstens.
In the Boys Varsity race, 112 runners from 16 teams competed, and the number 9-ranked Alta-Aurelia boys finished 3rd, with a team total of 116 points. Glenwood won the Boys Varsity Team title with 19 points and host South Central Calhoun finished just ahead of the Warriors, with 114 team points. Ridge View placed 6th.
Individually, Jason Kenny led the Ridge View boys with a time of 18:37.14, good for 7th place, and Christian Egger finished 18th with his time of 19:00.51. Sergio Carbajal, Charlie Kiegl, Heath Clark, Noah Frahm and Gabe Carbajal also ran for the Raptor varsity team.
Twenty-five girls ran in the JV race, including Ridge View's Nicole Brandt, Maddi Schubert and Taylor Henry, who finished 9th, 10th and 12th, respectively.
More than 100 JV boys ran, including Ridge View's Alex Burhop and Jonah Kistenmacher.
Ridge View also had two Middle School boys, Zach Kenny and John Pickhinke, and four Middle School girls, Meaghan McCleary, Autumn Fox, Coral Deal and Darby Baillie, compete at that level.
Individual results were not available for any of the Alta-Aurelia runners.
