5 arrested in Storm Lake drug bust

STORM LAKE - On Thursday morning at approximately 6 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department Entry Team, supported by investigators and other officers, executed a search warrant at 514 Terrance Street in connection with an investigation into the sale of illegal drugs in Storm Lake. Upon executing the search warrant, police took three persons into custody and located and seized quantities of marijuana and marijuana packaged for street sales as well as drug paraphernalia and approximately $600 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Before the day was over, the Police Department Entry Team and additional officers had also executed search warrant at 700 Lincoln Road and 1118 North Erie Street in conjunction with the same investigation. A quantity of cocaine was seized, along with documents which determined that one of the subjects arrested earlier in the day had given police false information as to his identity. No additional evidence was located at the North Erie location.

The following charges were filed :

Michael Miranda 38, Storm Lake, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, a Class D felony, and Possession of Drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $15,300 cash bond.

Jose Soto 33, Storm Lake, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor, and he was booked into the B.V. County jail on a $300 cash bond.

Bounseng Xaimoungkhon 30, Storm Lake, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 2nd Offense, an aggravated misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the B.V. County Jail on a $2,300 cash bond

Daniel Maldonato 20, Storm Lake, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class B felony, Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, a Class D felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the B.V. County Jail on a $30,300 cash bond.

Julio Cesar Rodriguez 26, Storm Lake, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class B felony; Possession of Cocaine With Intent to Deliver, a Class C felony; two counts of Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, a Class D felony; and Providing False Information to Law Enforcement and Driving While Revoked, both serious misdemeanors. He was booked into the B.V. County Jail on a $49,000 cash bond.

Additional charges and arrests are expected in this investigation. All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
