Funeral services for Carrie R. "Carolyn" Pingel, age 89, of Primghar, who passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home in Cherokee, was held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar with Trudy A. Peterson officiating.

Burial was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar.

Visitation with family present was from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.

Carrie Ruth "Carolyn" Pingel the daughter of Harlan and Ruth Widgery, was born July 5, 1922 in Winnebago, Neb. She lived most of her youth in Sioux City where she received her education. She was united in marriage to George John Pingel of Primghar, on June 19, 1940 at Ponca, Neb. They lived their entire married life on a farm near Primghar. Her husband preceded her in death in 1989, and Carrie remained on the family farm for several years until moving into Primghar. Because of failing health she moved to the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home in Cherokee in September of 2010. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. She had a passion for gardening and flowers. She also loved to quilt.

Carrie was preceded in death by her husband George, granddaughter Rebecca Milligan Coffin, parents, two sisters Judy and Louise and brother James.

She is survived by four daughters; Karen Gano of Sheldon, Georgia Mc Namara of Cedar Rapids, Linda Milligan of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Betty (Robert) Koehlmoos of Cherokee, eight grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
