Have you ever wanted to attend some short, fun classes, but wondered where you'd have the time to fit them in? Lunch time is a great opportunity to fit some quality education into your life and have fun while doing it.
Iowa State University (ISU) Extension in Cherokee County is again partnering with Western Iowa Tech Community College and Hy-Vee to offer a "Learning with Lunch" series of programs. The series consists of educational workshops focusing on a different topic each month.
The workshops will be taught by ISU Extension Program Specialists and Master Gardeners and will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
The first workshop, "Winter Seed Sowing and Propagation", will be taught by Master Gardener Julie French and is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 19 at noon at the Western Iowa Tech Community College campus in Cherokee. Julie is known for her interesting presentations offering practical and inexpensive tips.
The cost for the workshop is $6 per person, which covers the cost of a light lunch. Pre-registration is required and will be taken until the day before the event to assure the correct number of lunches are available. Please call the Cherokee County Extension Office at (712) 225-6196, or email HYPERLINK "mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org"email@example.com to preregister.
Future workshops will be held on the second Wednesday of each month through April 2012. November's topic will be "Healthy Cooking for the Holidays." All workshops will be held at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Cherokee.
