On Saturday, there will be a fundraiser held at the Cherokee Bowl for Dave Westphal of Cherokee. Westphal has been diagnosed with a brain malady AVM.
The event, to benefit Westphal's increasing medical expenses, will begin with a poker run that is open to all vehicles starting at noon, with sign-up will be from 10 a.m. to noon.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. a Grilled Pork Tenderloin Cookout will be held. Cost will be $6 and the meal comes with side dishes.
During the afternoon folks can sign up for a silent auction, along with a raffle. Raffle winners will be announced during the dance later that evening.
The dance itself will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight and will feature Mary Bridges Davies. Davies performed at the last Cherokee Jazz and Blues Festival and is a popular performer and accomplished actress.
For more information, contact Matt Hoskenson at the Cherokee Wellness Center or Tim Gaydo at the Cherokee Bowl, or visit Dave Westphal's page on Facebook.
Donations are also being accepted at Cherokee State Bank and the North Star Community Credit Union to benefit David and Jennifer Westphal and their young family. The couple has no medical insurance, according to fund organizers.
David is the son of Dave and Becky Westphal of Aurelia.
