River Valley girls win 2 matches

The talented River Valley volleyball team rang up two more road victories to run its shining season match record to 23-10, with a 3-1 victory at Storm Lake St. Mary's, and a 3-0 sweep at Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove.

Mackenzie Fitch led the Wolverines' hitting in the win at St. Mary's, totaling 28-34 attacks and a whopping 15 kills in the match, followed by Kari Ludvigson 27-33 and 12 kills, Brittany Hunwardesen 20-26 and five kills, and Lexie Chester 10-13 and four kills.

Brittny Shropshire paced River Valley in set assists with 21, and Chester led in digs with 19, followed by Shropshire 16, Fitch 12, and Ludvigson 11.

Hunwardsen led RV serving efforts with 17-18 and six aces, while Chester and Ludvigson were each 16-16 with three aces, Jacie Jepsen 13-15 and three aces, Shropshire 12-14 and two aces, and Fitch 9-16 and three aces.

In the win over OABCIG, Ludvigson took charge of hitting with a stellar 24-26 effort and 13 kills, followed by Fitch 16-19 and eight kills, Hunwardsen 16-16 and five kills, Chester 15-15 and seven kills, and Olivia Goettsch 6-8 and three kills.

Jepsen led in set assists with 33, and Shropshire led in digs with 15, followed by Ludvigson 10, Chester 10, Haley Madacino nine, and Fitch eight. Fitch and Ludvigson each tallied four block assists.

Jepsen paced the winners in serving with 14-14 and three aces, while Chester was 14-15, Ludvigson 11-11, Fitch 9-12 and three aces, and Hunwardsen 7-12 and two aces.
