NEWELL - Alta-Aurelia played two matches in the Twin Lakes Conference volleyball tournament here on Tuesday, beating Southeast Webster Grand in their first match, 2 games to 1, before falling to host Newell-Fonda, 2-0, in their second match.
In the win over Southeast Webster, Kelsi Snyder was 24 - 24 serving with seven ace serves to lead Alta-Aurelia, and the junior also had 15 assists. Jenna Snyder and Alexis Hernandez each had five kills for the Warriors.
Against Newell-Fonda, the Warrior highlights were few and far between, as the Warriors' serve efficiency was only .731 and they registered only six kills as a team.
Alta-Aurelia coach Jeannie Henningsen said "I thought we played well at times tonight. Kelsi (Snyder) really ran our team tonight with her outstanding serving and setting up the offense for our hitters. She is really learning the game. Jenna (Snyder) and Erica (Lockin) also played well. Jenna came up with some big kills in the third game against SEW and Erica passed well all night."
The Warriors finished 10th in the conference tournament and Newell-Fonda 9th. The top eight seeds played at other sites for the right to advance to the championship game.
Alta-Aurelia finishes their regular season with a 7-23 match record. The Warriors face Ridge View on Tuesday in the first round of the Class 2A Regional Tournament at Schaller.
