Michael Kohn, age 57, of Yankton, S.D., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at his residence in Yankton, S.D. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton with Branch President Randy Campbell officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton, S.D. Visitations will be from 6-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, with Scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Michael was born on Aug. 13, 1954 to Donald and Maureen (Timmons) Kohn in Cherokee. He grew up in Cherokee and moved to Yankton in 1972 to start attending Mount Marty College. He graduated from Mount Marty in May of 1977. He met his first wife Debra Haas and they were married on April 1, 1978. They remained together until her death in 2005. He was remarried to Lynn Curtis on April 24, 2010.

Mike became a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in the fall of 2007 and was a very active church member. He held a number of roles including Branch Mission Leader at the time of his death. He also spent many years volunteering with the Lewis and Clark playhouse and was a familiar face on the stage for local theater attendees for several years.

Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Debra and his father, Donald.

Many people are thankful for sharing life, love, and laughter with Mike including his wife Lynn of Yankton, S.D., his daughter Megan of Yankton, S.D., his step-daughters Diana Curtis of Yankton, S.D., and Cynthia (Carrie) Curtis of Gayville, S.D., his mother Maureen Kohn of Cherokee, his brothers Daniel of Sioux City, Martin (Melissa) of Cherokee, Steven (Patty) of Spring Hill, KS, Christopher of Cherokee, and Gerard (Donna) of Cherokee, his sisters Paula Law of Sioux City, and Mary (Jock)Rollins of McCook Lake, as well as many nieces and nephews.
