On Saturday, Oct. 22 a benefit will be held at the Cherokee VFW for Randy Ruba of Cherokee, formerly of Alton, who was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney on July 13 of this year.
Randy moved to Cherokee after his divorce in June of 2010 and is employed at Lundell Enterprises in Cherokee since March.
According to organizers, Randy has no medical insurance and has medical expenses piling up. He has two children, Kyle and Kelsey Ruba, who live in Alton. Randy is also a avid fisherman.
A benefit feed will begin at 5 p.m., free will donation. Auction will be at 6 p.m. and dance featuring a live DJ will be from 9 p.m. to midnight.
