As she has all season, Hanna Bennigsdorf paced the Cherokee girls to the finish line, clocking 17:01 for a personal best to place 23rd, followed by Chyenne Mortenson 37th in 18:06 for a personal best, Breeana DeVos 46th in 19:40, Katy Hart 47th in 20:05, Danni Roethler 49th in 20:32, Sydney Hart 52nd in 21:51, and Tasha Larsen 53rd in 22:00.

In the JV Girls race for Cherokee, Abby Hayes timed a personal best 23:46 to place 37th.

In the Boys competition for Cherokee, Jaden Lux finshed 31st in 18:07, while Andy Pitts was 44th in 19:46.

"We went back to a course they had run earlier in the season so it was a good test to see how much improvement they have gotten over these last few weeks," said Cherokee coach Jolene Hultgren.

"The kids have come to practice with the desire to get better. We knew we weren't going to win any meets, but if we could show that we were getting better each and every time out, then we would be succesful. Hopefully, the kids have come away from this season with that sense of accomplishment."

Cherokee's cross country teams run in the Class 2A District Thursday at Orange City.
