South O'Brien hosts XC Meet

PAULLINA - South O'Brien hosted a cross country meet at the Paullina Golf Course on Monday, and George-Little Rock-Central Lyon had four of the top six finishers in the Boys' varsity race, en route to a team title.

The South O'Brien boys finished 4th, while Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union was 6th. The conditions were cold and windy for the meet, but many great races were run.

Individually, Luke Hoger was South O'Brien's top finisher, as he took 12th place, with a time of 18:21.93.Teammate Daniel Patterson finished 13th, running in a time of 18:25.65; Austin Dunnick finished 17th, with a time of 18:41.28; Daniel Haden was 28th, with a time of 19:56.92; and Wyatt Hicks (32nd, 20:28.78) and Jordan Wohlert (33rd, 20:32.88) rounded out SOS' varsity Boys' totals.

Ben Brady topped the MMC/RU's boys with his time of 21:08.21 for the 3.1 mile course, good for 41st place. Teammate Zach Kellogg placed 44th with his time of 21:33.25. Nathan Ruba, Jacob Pearson and Mitch Brady rounded out MMC/RU's team.

In the Girls' varsity competition, the MMC/RU girls finished 4th and South O'Brien finished 7th.

MMC/RU sophomore Nicki Schwartz finished in 3rd place with her time of 16:44; South O'Brien's Hallie Rahbusch finished in 11th place with a time of 17:48, and MMC/RU's Sara Bird, Amber Neisius, Sydney Roberts, Heather Hoefling, Anna Wilcox and Carly Lehnhoft finished in 18th, 19th, 20th, 29th, 32nd and 42nd places, respectively.

South O'Brien's other runners were Miranda Liebsack (37th place), Arielle Wohlert (39th), Kellie Einck (44th), and Rebecca Thiel (45th).

South O'Brien also ran a JV boys' team, and the Wolverines' Hunter Fiddelke finished 4th among the JV runners, with a time of 20:16.60. Jacob Roos, Bo Rehder, Bobby McCauley and Brody Schiefen were the other Wolverine JV runners.

The MMC/R-U team was the only team to field enough JV girls to qualify the team JV title, and the Lady Eagle JV runners scored 68 points as a team. MMC/RU runners included Alissa McDermott, Kim Schroeder, Jill Addison, Casey Wurth, Jill Letsche, Tina Wilkens, Mallory Roseen, Jeri Welp and Taylor Schneider.

MMC/RU runners will compete in the Class 2A District meet at Unity Christian in Orange City today.
