River Valley ousts Bobcats, 3-0

CORRECTIONVILLE - The 10th ranked River Valley volleyball team steamrolled Charter Oak-Ute 3-0 in first-round Class 1A Regional action here Wednesday night.

In running their sparkling season match record to 25-10, the Wolverines of veteran coach Marlene Baumann, served at an 87-percent clip and rang up 36 kills in the match to overtake the Bobcats.

Kari Ludvigson paced River Valley's hitting attack with an 11-16 effort and 11 kills, followed by Mackenzie Fitch 10-13 and eight kills, Brittany Hunwardsen 10-10 and six kills, Jacie Jepsen 6-7 and four kills, and Olivia Goettsch 5-7 and five kills.

Jepsen racked up 26 set assists, and Brittny Shropshire and Haley Madacino tallied six and four digs, respectively. Ludvigson was in on five blocks, and Goettsch two.

Lexie Chester led the Wolverines in serving with a perfect 15-15 match and seven aces, while Hunwardsen was 14-17 with five aces, Fitch 11-15 and six aces, Jepsen 7-8 and two aces, Ludvigson 6-6 and two aces, and Shropshire 8-9 and three aces.

River Valley next plays the Whiting-West Harrison winner Tuesday in Mondamin.
