MARCUS - Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn overcame a first-game loss and won the next three games to defeat Newell-Fonda (13-23) in Class 1A Regional Tournament volleyball action here on Wednesday. Game scores were 21-25, 25-17, 29-27, 25-20.

Jalyn Doeden had 17 kills and Erica Dreckman 14 to lead the Eagles' hitting attack, while Kayla Foresman, with a 21-21 performance, and Kayla Theisen, 18-18, led several good serving efforts by MMC. Erica Dreckman was 19-21 with three ace serves, while Ashley Brady was 14-15 with one ace, and Allison Meehan was 12-13.

Four Lady Eagle players - Alex Dreckman, Erica Dreckman, Kayla Foresman and Allison Meehan - blocked four shots apiece in Wednesday's match.

The Eagles (11-12) will face Kingsley-Pierson (10-14), which beat Storm Lake St. Mary's 3-0 on Wednesday, in a Regional Quarterfinal match at Marcus on Tuesday, October 25.
