8 candidates eye City Council seats

At-Large incumbent Burkhart not seeking re-election

Eight citizens have filed papers for the three Cherokee City Council positions up for re-election in November.

The three open City Council seats are in Ward 1, Ward 3, and At-Large, with incumbents seeking another term in Wards 1 and 3, and out-going City Council Member Linda Burkhart not seeking re-election for the At-Large post.

In Ward 1, incumbent Jim Peck is seeking another term and he will be challenged by Mark Miller.

In Ward 3, incumbent Wayne Pingel is seeking another term and will be challenged by Matthew Royster and Jason Johnson.

For the open At-Large post, candidates are Chad Brown, Barry Lewis, and Michael Morrow.
