The first Cherokee Symphony Concert of the season will be staged at the Cherokee Community Center at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The ever-popular Pops Concert will be Sunday, with popcorn and punch served at no charge. Maestro Lee Thorson will be recognized for his 30th year as conductor. Maestro Thorson, a cellist and instructor from Storm Lake, has been conductor since 1981. Interested musicians may contact Thorson at 712-732-1497 to arrange for an audition.
The Mid-Winter Concert will be March 4, 2012. Ted Halberg of Le Mars will be guest conductor.
The final concert of the season, the Young Artists' Concert, will be April 22, 2012, and will showcase the winners of auditions held earlier. It is always thrilling to hear these young soloists perform.
