Johnson, Hjelmeland exchange vows

LeAnn Christine Johnson and Clayton Lee Hjelmeland were united in marriage July 9, 2011, at Meriden Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Larry Ostercamp officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Karen Johnson of Cleghorn. The groom is the son of Jack and Patti Hjelmeland of Harmony, Minn.

Matron of honor was Jill Birkland, of Des Moines, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amanda Leonard, of Mankato, Minn., Jamie Staveness, of State College, Penn., Bethany Doorenbos, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Allison Stone, of Plymouth, Ind., cousin of the bride.

Flowergirls were Brielle Hjelmeland, of Harmony, niece of the groom, and Dreleigh Johnson, of Cleghorn, niece of the bride.

Best man was Brent Hjelmeland, of Harmony, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Josh Carris, of Spencer, Brandon Schuler, of Atlantic, David Butler, of Opelousas, La., and Blaine Miller, of LeRoy, Minn.

Ringbearers were Laiken and Ryer Johnson, of Cleghorn, nephews of the bride, and Hayden Hjelmeland, of Harmony, nephew of the groom.

Seating the guests were Bobby, Ryan and Shane Johnson, all of Cleghorn and all brothers of the bride.

Pianist was Jan Tjeerdsma of Cherokee. Vocalists were Stephanie Abbas and Matthew Abbas of Minneapolis.

LeAnn is a 2007 graduate of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School. She graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City in Dec. 2010 with a degree in Writing & Rhetoric and is employed as a writer and designer for the Hometown Press newspaper in Sully.

Clayton is a 2007 graduate of Fillmore Central High School. He graduated from Northwestern College in May 2011 with an elementary education degree and a middle school endorsement. He is employed as a junior high math teacher at Montezuma Community Schools.

The couple honeymooned in Estes Park, Colo., and are currently at home in Montezuma.
