CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley Booster Club is sponsoring a Meet the Wolverine Basketball Teams night on Friday, November 18.
In addition to introducing the fans to the River Valley high school and junior high school basketball line-ups and cheerleaders, the fans can be a part of the First Annual Booster Club Chili Cook-Off Contest.
The evening will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a Chili Cook-Off Contest. All Wolverine fans, local businesses, and River Valley coaches, faculty, and staff are invited to compete for the trophy that will be awarded to the Fan's Choice Chili Champion.
Fans are encouraged to take out those secret family recipes or try a new one for the contest. Anyone who wishes to participate in the contest will need to prepare a recipe of their own chili and arrive at the River Valley High School commons at 5 p.m. Nov. 18. Each participant should prepare at least a large 5-quart crock-pot of chili.
Any Wolverine fan wishing to be a part of the chili sampling will pay an admission at the door. Wolverine fans can then sample as many kinds of chili as they wish, and finally vote for their favorite. The admission to the chili sampling also includes a beverage and dessert. The chili sampling will end at 6:30 p.m.. See the Booster Club's advertisement in the Chronicle Times for more details.
At 6:30 p.m. there will be an opportunity for fans to take photos of the teams, individual players and cheerleaders.
At 7 p.m., the Wolverine junior high and high school coaches will introduce their basketball teams and cheerleaders for the upcoming season. Beginning with the junior high girls, followed by the junior high boys, high school girls, and high school boys, the teams will scrimmage for one quarter of play to give fans an opportunity see the teams in action.
All Wolverine fans are encouraged to attend, enter the chili cook-off contest, vote for their favorite, and watch the teams scrimmage. To enter the contest, please contact Michelle Volkert (372-4630) before Wednesday, November 16.
