Lyle Tracy Johnson, 57, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011. He was a Cherokee native. Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at his church in Johnson City, Tenn. The family requests that any memorial contribution be made in memory of Lyle to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas, 75284-0692.
Lyle was born the 2nd son to Mitchell M. and "Betty" A. (Spitzbarth) Johnson, on July 27, 1954. He was a 1972 graduate of Washington High School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years.
Lyle attended Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, Tenn. and graduated with a Major in Preaching and a Minor in Biblical Studies. Presently he was a student at Emmanuel Christian Seminary, Johnson City, Tenn. He was working on his Master's Degree, and was two classes from completion. Lyle was a member of the First Christian Church, Johnson City, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Mitchell M. Johnson in December of 1997.
Survivors include his wife Catherine Burkhart Johnson of the home; four sons: Christopher and wife Ghazal of California; Benjamin of Florida; David of Arkansas; and James and wife Amanda of Tennessee; Two grandchildren: Alexa Johnson of California; and Arthur Johnson of Tennessee; His mother "Betty" Johnson of Missouri; Two brothers: LaVern, presently of Arizona; and Lowell of Missouri, and a sister, Lori and husband Louis Sholly of Missouri. Two nieces: Andrea McIrvin of Iowa, and Danelle Greer and husband Dean of Missouri; Two nephews: Scott Johnson and wife Mel of California; and Greg Johnson of Iowa; Two great-nephews and a great-niece, as well as, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
