Marcella M. Miller, 85, of Cherokee, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 13, 2011 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Magrey DeVega will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Visitation will begin today at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Marcella was born on July 6, 1926 to Harold and Agnes (Pojar) Meikle at Creighton, Nebraska. She grew up in the Creighton area and graduated from Creighton High School in 1943. Following high school, she taught country school in rural Nebraska for several years. She followed in the nursing trade working in nursing homes and mental health hospitals. She worked for the Buchanan County Nurse's office for 20 years and retired in 1990. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1990. Marcella was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. She was an avid card player and gossiper, she enjoyed good food, traveling and most of all her families gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Marcella is survived by three sons: Wane (Brenda) Miller of Aurelia; Larry Miller of Albia; Jonathan Miller of Aurelia; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Leland Meikle of St. Edwards, Nebraska; Robert Meikle of Cherokee; Lynn (Judy) Meikle of Cherokee; two sisters: Betty Bilney of Cherokee; Bonita La Fave of Cherokee; many nieces and nephews.
