Five students from the Cherokee and Denison Branch Campuses of Western Iowa Tech Community College recently participated in a TRiO-sponsored overnight trip to Eastern Iowa.
Debra Alvarado and Amber Reichert of Marcus, and Kathleen Rice of Quimby were among the students who participated in a full Transfer Day Event at the University of Iowa, joining others from across the region interested in transitioning to 4-year degree programs. Western Iowa Tech has a strong partnership with the U of I, sending over many of its Associate Degree graduates.
The five Cherokee and Denison TRiO students also visited the Amana Colonies, enjoying the Old Creamery Theatre's production of "The Mousetrap" by Agatha Christie.
TRiO is a federally funded grant program providing students with additional academic support services to help them achieve their educational goals.
