Lucille Wilkie, 92, of Cherokee, passed away, Wednesday, November 16th, at 3:15 p.m. at Careage Hills, where she had resided for the past 4 1/2 years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19th, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the Church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Lucille was born November 30, 1918 in Meriden to Robert and Annie (Gibson) Lundie. She attended school in Meriden, moving to Larrabee in her senior year, and graduated in 1935. As a young girl, she was active in softball and a member of the Girl Scouts. She married Ross Wilkie on February 17, 1937 in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Cherokee County until moving to Cherokee in 1980.

After her family was raised, she spent several years working at Hope's Fashion Farm. Lucille was active in the Larrabee United Methodist Church until moving to Cherokee, where she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist church. She was also a member of the Columbian Club, Thursday Book Club, several bridge clubs, and Church Circle.

She and Ross spent 15 years enjoying the Arizona winter sun. They loved to go dancing and loved watching the Chicago Cubs spring training. She especially enjoyed her family and watching them in various activities. She spent her spare time doing needle work, reading and playing bridge.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Shirley Ross (Tom) of Vaucouver, Washington and Linda Struck of Cherokee; grandchildren Brian Ross (Natalie) of LaGrange, Kentucky and their children Justin, Gavin and Kristin,and Lindsay Ross Chavez (Michael) of Chandler, Arizona and their daughter Maddie; Adam Struck (Keelie) of Holstein, and their sons Jackson and Noah; Abby Davison (Mike) of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister, Ethel Kintigh of Cherokee; sister-in-law Annette Lundie of Dumont, Iowa; brother-in-law Robert Wilkie (Donna) of Cherokee; sister-in-law Pat Wilkie of Cherokee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; her son Richard; two grandsons; her parents; brothers Robert and Harold Lundie; and her sister. Jean Wadsley.
