The Cherokee Extension Office will host a Pest Control Operators Continuing Instructional Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011. The program will be shown at locations across Iowa through the Iowa State University Extension Pest Management and the Environment (PME) program. The local site for the Dec. 7 CIC is the Cherokee County Extension Office at 209 Centennial Drive in Cherokee. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. followed by sessions from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The registration fee is $60 on or before Nov. 30 and $70 after Nov. 30. The 2011 course will provide continuing instructional credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 7A, 7B, 8 and 10. The course will cover topics such as pests and pest management, including bed bugs, termites and brown marmorated stink bug; EPA's rodenticide mitigation; safe pesticide application to reduce human exposure and protect groundwater; pesticides and pesticide labels; and laws and regulations.
