Answering the challenge

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

As a challenge from a Student Council Member from Rockford, Iowa, the Cherokee Washington High School Student Council sponsored a community-wide food drive. This challenge went out state-wide to fill the food pantries across the state before Thanksgiving. The food was donated to Mid-Sioux Opportunity to help eligible families in the Cherokee area. Boxes were set at Hy-Vee, Cherokee State Bank, State Savings Bank, Main Street Pharmacy, North Star Community Credit Union, Fareway, the Cherokee Post Office, Hy-Vee Pharmacy and Hy-Vee Drug. The WHS Student Council collected 375 items, which were donated recently to the food pantry at Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. in Cherokee. WHS students participating were, front row, left to right, Nathan Dodd, Jonah Seng and Nate Fowler. Back, Beth Ebert, Student Council Advisor, and Josh Haupert. Photo contributed
