HINTON - The River Valley boys put themselves in quite a hole, trailing 28-4 after the first quarter of their basketball game against Hinton on Monday.
Though they played well the rest of the way, the Wolverines weren't able to close the gap any, losing the non-conference game against the Blackhawks by a final score of 76-50.
Brennan Riedemann led River Valley's scoring with 21 points and he also had eight steals. Blaine Cullen added eight rebounds for the Wolverines and Brody Riedemann had four assists. Austin Moeller and Zak Gander also scored in double figures for RV, with each player scoring 10 points.
River Valley coach Dean Norris said that though he was frustrated with the loss, he felt the team played much better in the second half and hopes they can continue to progress as the season goes along, calling the Wolverines "a hard working group with a desire to get better."
The Wolverines host Siouxland Christian on Friday with the hope of evening their season record at 1-1.
