MARCUS - We need a little Christmas right this very second...wait slow down enjoy the sights and sound of the season at Hometown Christmas in Marcus this Friday, Dec. 9.

You can go dashing through the snow in a horse-drawn sleigh sponsored by Westel. Then warm up at the Marcus Fire Departments annual chili feed, located in the fire station. After your belly is full, stand in awe and wonder before the new born king at the live nativity, in the green space across from the fire station. Enjoy some homemade treats and cookies form the junior class back sale at the Marcus Community Center or the Heartland Auxiliary bake sale at the fire station.

Oh Christmas trees oh Christmas trees how lovely are all 27 of you. Come get lost in Marcus' own winter wonderland at the Festival of Trees in the Marcus Community Center. We have some new comers this year including Country Creations, and sticking with tradition the 2010 winner Marcus Historical Society.

We will continue this year with monetary voting, so please bring a buck or two for your favorite trees. The winning tree receives a traveling plaque to recognize them, while all the money is used to purchase items for the Marcus Food Pantry.

Before shoppers rush home with their treasure, swing over to the Marcus Merchant Mall, a great way to get all your shopping done. Where else can you find the Best Marcus has to offer under one roof? We have Marcus Lumber Co, Grandma's Garden and Hy-Vee Drug, plus so many more.

This is a great way for you to support Marcus local businesses as 100% of the money is given back to participating businesses. We have elves that can help your children find gifts for everyone on their list, with all Merchant Mall items being $10 or under. Perhaps best of all, free wrapping!
