Alta-Aurelia Coach Dean Lietz said, "This was a very nice win. We played very good defense on Ripke and didn't allow him a field goal in the second half, which helped our cause tremendously. Sioux Central played well to start the second half and took a five point lead going into the 4th quarter, but we battled hard, got some stops, and played well offensively down the stretch to secure the win.
"We turned it over a little too much, and didn't rebound as well as we'd like, but the effort was great and it was a great atmosphere. We have some things we need to get cleaned up, but I love the work ethic of this team."
Alta-Aurelia (2-0) hosts Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer in Alta on Friday.
