The Cherokee Memorial Presbyterian Church will be holding its annual Advent Tryst on Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m. The event is co-hosted by St. Paul United Methodist Church.
The church originally began celebrating the Advent Tryst Service nearly 40 years ago.
It has become a tradition in Cherokee. In recent years, the Methodist and Presbyterian women have joined together to make this the joyful event it is today.
Donated mittens, scarves and hats will adorn the Christmas tree. Monetary gifts are also appreciated. The clothing items will be collected and distributed to children in the Cherokee School District. A free will offering will also be taken. After this service, these items will be distributed to area school children.
The Tryst services message is that worship, music, lighting Advent candles, and fellowship help the celebration of Christ's birth expressing Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
The Memorial Presbyterian Church is located at 127 E. Willow St. in Cherokee. Everyone is invited. In case of inclement weather, check for possible cancellations or call 225-2637 for more information.
