Monday night, the Wolverines traveled to Remsen-Union and got off to another quick start, leading the Rockets 18-10 after the first quarter. They continued to extend that lead, leading by 14 at the half, and finishing with a 19 point, 60-41 win.
Britney Shropshire led River Valley with 12 points, while Mackenzie Fitch added 11, and Brittany Hunwardsen and Kari Ludvigson added 10 apiece. The win improved the Wolverines' season mark to an outstanding 8-1.
Brittany Hunwardsen led the Wolverines past K-P, scoring 19 points, followed by Bailey Fitch 17, Lexie Chester 16, and Mackenzie Fitch and Britney Shropshire seven apiece.
Hunwardsen and Mackenzie Fitch paced River Valley's rebounding with eight each, and Bailey Fitch tallied five. Kari Ludvigson led the winners in assists with six and had five steals, and Shropshire collected seven steals.
RV made 28-69 field goals for 41 percent, and was 15-37 from the foul line.
In the narrow win over South O'Brien Saturday, Chester led the balanced scoring with 17 points, while Hunwardsen managed 12, Mackenzie Fitch 11, and Ludvigson 10.
RV sank 19-53 shots for 36 percent, and 16-37 for free throws.
Ludvigson led the Wolvereines on the boards with seven rebounds, followed by Hunwardsen and Mackenzie Fitch six apiece, and Allie Byers five. Ludvigson had seven steals and six assists to lead those categories.
RV coach Matt Jenness exclaimed, "I could not be happier going into the break. The girls have played hard, and it has showed with wins. We are very balanced scoring-wise, and that makes us tough to prepare for. Our defense continues to improve, which is how we get that offense.
"We are excited to get a break and get healthy and we look forward to continuing our success in the second half of the season."
